Autumn 3D Sets MeetUp 2025: Campfire Sausages, a Chocolate Fountain, and the Legendary Le Brno Race

When the calendar hit November 1st, no one suspected we were about to experience one of the best 3D Sets MeetUps yet. Even though the date was announced a bit late – and it looked like the autumn weather wouldnât be on our side – it ended up treating us surprisingly well.

Around 50 visitors arrived from all over the country, from Liberec in the north down to South Moravia. We saw seasoned veterans and completely new faces, families with small kids, young couples, and enthusiastic model builders. And the moment the first cars rolled in, it became clear that this year wasnât just big on people â it was big on models too. As Ondra joked: the number of cars per person went up again, to the point where we basically ran out of space. And as RĂłza, Ondraâs 15-year-old daughter, noted: she only spotted Czechs this year, so sadly the MeetUp didnât give her a chance to flex her English. đ

The morning was dedicated to our traditional off-road orienteering rally. Nine checkpoints tested the driversâ skill, the durability of the models, andâmost importantlyâthe psychological endurance of dads and their family relationships.
Some participants treated the route like a time trial, sprinting between checkpoints so fast their RC cars could barely keep up. Families with kids took the âscenic version,â documenting every puddle crossing with care.
Checkpoint #8 quickly became legendary. As Jirka put it:
âAlmost everyone tried the hardest possible climb⊠and not everyone made it.â

This time, we really stepped up the food game. Because when you put the gastronomic corner into the hands of two food enthusiasts â Ondra and DĂĄĆĄa â it simply canât end with sausages.
They unveiled a chocolate fountain, which instantly became the highlight of the day. Kids (and not just kids) eagerly participated in rescuing stuck chocolate pieces, the gingerbread cookies were gone within the first hour, and the final tally? 2.5 kg of premium chocolate sacrificed itself for the cause.
Another new addition this year was a campfire for roasting sausages â a brilliant way to make everyone stop for a moment, gather around a single firepit, and chat about more than just cars.

The âLe Brnoâ race wasnât just another item on the program.
It was a cultural event.
A simple track.
12 minutes of driving.
As Jirka summed it up:
âIt was basically a destruction derby. Then everyone got bolder.â
The race triggered something no one expected.
Almost everyone joined â even those who swore they were âjust here to watch.â After the race, wives and kids announced:
âI want my own car, not the one I borrowed from you.â
And so many dads are probably printing and building new projects at home as you read this. đ

Each event moves us forward, and this year brought a bunch of great ideas:
đ adding a second day
đ vincluding a night expedition
đ making medals for kids
đ a big FAMILY PHOTO at peak attendance
đ an orienteering rally where people see each other more (and get lost in the forest less)
And since the MeetUp is mostly about you, weâd love to know which of these ideas make the most sense.
Or maybe you have your own improvement? Bring it on â the 3D Sets community is the engine that keeps us going.

Thanks to everyone who came, shared experiences, cheered each other on, and created an atmosphere you simply canât plan. Weâre already looking forward to the next MeetUp!
